In Amorphis 19 year history, they've been adept and sometimes groundbreaking in their approach to death metal in the earlier years, before changing into their present-day entity. The Amorphis of the 21st century is far more progressive, with a definite folk influence seen in their sound and the use of instruments ranging from the usual metal suspects to flute, mellotron and piano. This is a band that is known for their distinct sound, a mix of their earlier influences melded with Finnish folk music, clean vocals and dark yet romantic lyrics.
