Bad Company was formed in 1973 in Westminster (London) from four musicians: Paul Rogers and Simon Kirk (former members of the band Free), Mick Ralphs (former guitarist of the band Mott the Hoople) and Boz Barrel (who was a member of King several years before that) Crimson). The manager of the group was Peter Grant, who was involved in the management of Led Zeppelin. The group became very popular in the first half of the 1970s, thanks in part to its members. In November 1973, the group recorded their debut self-titled album, which was released in June 1974 and was extremely successful: it reached # 1 on the Billboard 200, became platinum five times and ranked # 46 on the list of the most commercially successful CDs of the 1970s years. The album was 25 weeks on the UK Albums Chart, entering there at number 10 and reaching # 3 in the second week. The singles "Can't Get Enough" and "Movin 'On" from this album reached # 5 and # 19 on the Billboard Hot 100. In April 1975, the group released the second Straight Shooter album, which repeated the success of the previous one: it reached # 3 in both the UK and the USA, and in the USA it became platinum. This album also spawned two single hits: "Good Lovin 'Gone Bad" (# 36) and "Feel Like Makin' Love" (# 10). The third album, Run with the Pack (1976), also reached a good position, but the next two albums Burnin 'Sky (1977) and Desolation Angels (1979) were less successful.
