The Devils

here is a melodic component to this album that shows their true musicianship and depth. There is more black metal magic here than before, an embrace of the cosmic aspect of reality, an inverse biblical elegance, and an elevated approach to the lyrics. There is also a little less of the mindless and juvenial blasphemy (especially the movie clip intros) which I find to be a relief.

This album is very aggressive and creative. They finally had the opportunity to work with David Diepold, and his drumming really gives the music the extra life it needs to burn bright.
