Music For May Morning |
 | Beschreibung: | Experience a staple of the Oxford calendar in this set of works inspired by the May Morning tradition, with music spanning from the traditional to contemporary. Starting with The College Clock welcoming in the sunrise, this special recording displays The Magdalen College Choir in radiant form, shining in the glorious acoustics of the Church of St. John the Evangelist, Oxford. The Choir of Magdalen College, Oxford was founded in 1480 with provision made in the statutes for 16 singing boys, eight Academical Clerks and four chaplains. Magdalen College was then one of the oldest and largest choral foundations in late-medieval England, and this historic legacy has been preserved and maintained over five centuries. The Choir, which now enjoys an international reputation as one of the finest ensembles in the UK, exists primarily to sing the daily church services in Magdalen College Chapel., Runningtime: 00:00:00, Choir: Magdalen College Choir Oxford, Design: Daniel Spraggon, Engineer: Simon Kiln, Executive-Producer: Jeremy Wilkinson (2), Music Director, Liner Notes: Mark Williams (33), Photography By: Hugh Warwick, Producer: James Whitbourn, Producer: Simon Kiln, Arranged By: Grayston Ives, Composed By: Traditional, Composed By: Thomas Morley, Composed By: Robert Lucas de Pearsall, Arranged By: Grayston Ives, Composed By: Lennon-McCartney, Composed By: Anonymous, Composed By: William Cornysh, Composed By: Ralph Vaughan Williams, Arranged By: David Overton, Composed By: Traditional, Composed By: Benjamin Rogers (3), Composed By: John Stainer, Composed By: Gerald Finzi, Composed By: Charles Hubert Hastings Parry, Arranged By: Guy Turner, Composed By: Harold Arlen, Composed By: Claude Debussy, Arranged By: James Whitbourn, Composed By: Traditional, Composed By: Orlando Gibbons, Composed By: Carlo Gesualdo, Composed By: John Ireland, Composed By: William Byrd, Composed By: Peter Warlock, Arranged By: Gordon Langford, Composed By: Traditional, Composed By: Thomas Weelkes, Composed By: Heinrich Isaac, Composed By: Sir Edward Elgar, Composed By: Charles Villiers Stanford, Composed By: Benjamin Britten, Labelcode BOPU9049.2 (OACD9049D), Phonographic Copyright (p) Naxos Rights Europe Ltd, Copyright (c) Naxos Rights Europe Ltd, Recorded At Church Of St John The Evangelist, Oxford | | Herstellernummer: |
