Beschreibung:From her legendary debut through the succeeding years, Jeanne Demessieux brought virtuosity allied to intellect and sensitivity, and went on to become the glory of the French organ school. This 8-CD celebration of one of the instrument's most spoken-of, yet enigmatic figures, brings together for the first time her complete Decca recordings and a previously unpublished BBC Radio broadcast, and is released to mark the centenary of her birth. It includes Demessieux's legendary Franck recordings; her recordings from St. Mark's, North Audley Street, London, many released for the first time since the original 78s; little-known recordings of sacred songs with Demessieux accompanying the Belgian soprano, Suzanne Danco; and an improvisation on a submitted theme from the only extant BBC radio broadcast with Demessieux, which also includes Bach, Buxtehude, Widor and Messiaen. All recordings have been carefully remastered by Mark Obert-Thorn and Chris Bernauer. The accompanying booklet includes details of Demessieux's unpublished recordings, rare photos and facsimiles of some of her programs, extensive notes, including details of some of the recording sessions; and notes on the instruments and full specifications for each of the five organs., Runningtime: 00:00:00, Art Direction: Raymond Bannerman, Booklet Editor: Adam Freeman (2), Booklet Editor: Bruce Raggatt, Engineer: Arthur Haddy, Engineer: Gil Went, Engineer: John Timperley, Engineer: Kenneth Wilkinson, Engineer: Unknown Artist, Executive-Producer: Adam Freeman (2), Organ: Jeanne Demessieux, Recording Supervisor: Norman Austin, Recording Supervisor: Terence Gibbs, Recording Supervisor: Unknown Artist, Recording Supervisor: Victor Olof, Remastered By [Remastering Engineer]: Chris Bernauer, Remastered By, Restoration [Audio Restoration]: Mark Obert-Thorn, Research: Noëlle Debailleul, Research: Peter Matthews (4), Composed By: Johann Sebastian Bach, Organ: Jeanne Demessieux, Composed By: Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy, Composed By: Jeremiah Clarke, Composed By: Charles-Marie Widor, Composed By: César Franck, Composed By: César Franck, Composed By: César Franck, Organ: Jeanne Demessieux, Composed By: Johann Sebastian Bach, Composed By: Johann Sebastian Bach, Composed By: Johann Sebastian Bach, Composed By: Johann Sebastian Bach, Composed By: Johann Sebastian Bach, Composed By: Johann Sebastian Bach, Composed By: Johann Sebastian Bach, Composed By: César Franck, Composed By: Franz Liszt, Composed By: Charles-Marie Widor, Composed By: Georg Friedrich Händel, Composed By: Georg Friedrich Händel, Composed By: Heinrich Schütz, Composed By: Johann Sebastian Bach, Composed By: Johann Sebastian Bach, Composed By: Johann Sebastian Bach, Soprano Vocals: Suzanne Danco, Composed By: Franz Liszt, Composed By: Charles-Marie Widor, Composed By: Édouard Mignan, Composed By: Jean Berveiller, Composed By: Jeanne Demessieux, Composed By: Johann Sebastian Bach, Composed By: Johann Sebastian Bach, Composed By: Johann Sebastian Bach, Composed By: Johann Sebastian Bach, Transcription By: Marcel Dupré, Composed By: Johann Sebastian Bach, Composed By: Johann Sebastian Bach, Composed By: Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Composed By: Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Composed By: César Franck, Composed By: César Franck, Composed By: César Franck, Composed By: César Franck, Composed By: César Franck, Composed By: Olivier Messiaen, Composed By: Johann Sebastian Bach, Composed By: Jean Berveiller, Composed By: Charles-Marie Widor, Composed By: Dieterich Buxtehude, Organ: Jeanne Demessieux, Composed By: Johann Sebastian Bach, Composed By: Charles-Marie Widor, Composed By: Olivier Messiaen, Composed By: Jeanne Demessieux, Labelcode ELOA4841424.2 (484 1424), Phonographic Copyright (p) Universal Music Australia Pty Ltd, Copyright (c) Universal Music Australia Pty Ltd, Marketed By Universal Classics & Jazz, Made By Technicolor, Australia, Recorded At St Marks, North Audley Street, London UK, Recorded At Victoria Hall, Geneva, Recorded At Eglise De La Madeleine, Paris, Recorded At Liverpool Metropolitan Cathedral, Recorded At Colston Hall
