Weber's the Grand Duo concertant is a unique work, and a special characteristic is it's perfect combination of form and effect, heard on this album as a duo for clarinet and piano. "The selection of other pieces on our first CD together is also in accordance with the idea of 'form and effect,'" says pianist Florian Feilmair about the recording with his clarinetist brother, Benjamin. The other composers are rooted in French tradition and develop their ideas by "emphasizing form into spectacular phrases."
