Yuriy P. - 27.01.2022 With the eighties, the era of heavy metal began in a very young heavy music. Drive and energy reached a fundamentally new level, which was facilitated by both the punk, which was reviled by everyone, and the increase in the number of guitarists in groups to two, so much so that everyone could maintain the rhythm and record a high-quality solo. The role of Judas Priest, who in the late seventies essentially prescribed the canons of style, is undeniable in the development of classical heavy metal, but it was precisely when the number 7 in the countdown of decades changed to 8 that the first album of the young reckless Iron Maiden, who had long been ready for its release, was released. Since 1974, Steve Harris has been writing musical material that, after surviving in the clubs of the English working-class districts and insisting on the inevitable aggression emanating from the bowels of the flaming souls of musicians who have not yet been adequately thanked, when the clockwork of the bomb showed “0”, covered the world with an explosive wave. The rockers of the globe have never heard such a frenzy, such an influx of power in just forty minutes has not been felt by music lovers before, inserting a record into the player. The unstoppable roar of Murray and Stratton's guitars from the very beginning of "Prowler" hammers into the asphalt of London's night slums. "Tramp" has an unforgettable riff and a powerful solo, opening the doors to the tough and magnetic world of the new monsters of the rock arena. Whoever heard this once and, trying for a long time to raise his drooping jaw, listened to the whole album in stunnedness, forever became a fan of the still future English giants. “Remember Tomorrow”, mesmerizing with mysterious verses and shooting with fire of the chorus, also shocks with the insertion of a solo section that differs in rhythm (the solo is outstanding again), which is faster and more energetic - Harris has always liked to flirt with unusual structures. The vocals of Paul Di'Anno are incomparable, certainly a great find of the group, who put his all into the two Iron Maiden albums where he sang. "Running Free" catches with its near-punk charm and beauty in simplicity, and the following "Phantom of the Opera" and "Transylvania", being the undisputed climax of the disc, adored by fans of explosive heavy metal, do not give any chance to remain who you were before. their listening. The band is even more amazing, then pouring out the most beautiful ballad "Strange World" and, it would seem, again returning to driving themes, interspersing "Charlotte the Harlot" with even more beautiful lyrical fragments. The final brand action movie - the band's namesake - completes an impeccable form with an unheard-of content and leaves us, my dears, sitting with our mouths open from this. Heavy metal has arrived!
