In 1985, while singing at a Los Angeles club, vocalist Julie Kelly encountered June Christy. June walked up to Julie, grasped her hands, looked into her eyes and warmly said "have a great set!". The vocalist who had conquered Europe and won jazz polls across the world completely floored the young and vulnerable Julie, who knew the words June uttered were sincere.
