I have been a big fan of Kataklysma for 15 years, I have no objections to any album. Let's go for another 15 years

I haven't listened to Canadians KATAKLYSM for 8-9 years, since their powerful "Serenity In Fire". All the more surprising was the news that once hyperbrutals were playing now supposedly melodic death. In order to understand this ugliness, I bought myself "Waiting For the End to Come". Breaking the logic "from the particular to the general" I will immediately express myself on the theme of "melodic". KATAKLYSM do sound more melodic than they did 8, 13 or 20 years ago. Another thing is that it is difficult for me to consider their current works as unambiguously melodic death. It is unlikely that every fan of "Bodomov" or KALMAH will immediately perceive the work of the Canados. Because the initial level of brutality on "Waiting For the End to Come" makes itself felt. In the end, "cataclysms" were compared with SUFFOCATION at one time ... And a certain "motivation" was inherent in them before. It is enough to listen to the composition "Manifestation" from the album "The Prophesy" from 2000. Okay, now about the music of the album. The first three tracks do not give any suspicion especially. Standard, rather hard death metal with driving blast passages and the harsh sound of guitars, which is usual for the band. The enticement starts with the hit song "Kill the Elite" and continues for three songs. In the "choruses" or in the main riffs, there really is an increased melody, which adds to the entertainment of the team's music. Previously, Canadians sometimes fell into a bore. The group applies melody competently, without turning the brutal genre into snot. Motifs pleasing to the ear occupy a strictly measured place and are replaced by hard and heavy fragments. In a sense, the melody for KATAKLYSM on this album is more of a device, an instrument than a style or genre. Of the "hits" I will also mention "Like Animals" with a powerful guitar riff in the chorus. Now about the disadvantages. Like "-teen" years ago, the group goes overboard with timing. 45 minutes is too much even for a brutal diluted with melodizvb. The second half of the album teems with a moderate pace, and I personally wanted more of a hurricane. Hurricane drummer Duhamel is also missing.
