Some three hundred compositions by Handel such as Overtures, dances and short instrumental interludes titled Ritornello, Sinfonia or Sarabande are hardly ever perceived as a separate category, despite appearing in his most important compositions. Such observations provided the basis for this concept album. The pre-dominant instruments of the first Suite are the horns, which originally play an important role in the Overture to Handel's great success Samson and the operas Giulio Cesare and Ariodante.
