Vladislav M. - 22.09.2019 Old-school high-grade death metal, which this year was a quarter century old. Perhaps, the subject cannot be blamed on obscurity. Among fans of the genre, warm reviews about the work have been and have been all this time, and the original first editions have become the subject of collectors' hunt. Fortunately, Peaceville kindly reprinted these artifacts and they became available to a new generation of listeners.
The material is tasty and classy, served harshly, but in the midst of rudeness and gloom there really is a place for musical diversity and even originality. The arrangements were obviously harped over. We recorded as much as 50 minutes of a brutal staf, but it’s interesting to listen to - you can occasionally hear approaches like Peers Autopsy (this bass, oh!), Morbid Angel (twisted solos), Obituary (sweeping in the riffing), but all together - it's still namely Morta Skuld. In general, on the same wavelength as the more eminent representatives of the genre, a well-deserved classic.
I’ll separately note the artwork - there is something in it, although, as far as I understand, the author of the painting by the name of Dominic Marino hasn’t lit up anywhere else, but the picture is also good at the idea and fits the concept of lyrics as much as possible, and fascinates with color solutions.
The best recommendations for renewal in memory and regular listening.
