The fourth studio album by English musician, songwriter, and producer Mike Oldfield, released on 1 December 1978. It received a strong initial commercial response, reaching platinum certification by the British Phonographic Industry two weeks prior after receiving over 300,000 preorders.

Incantations war auf Schallplatte ein Doppelalbum. Jeder Part war eine Plattenseite. Das Intro war Jahrelang im TV für die Serie 100 Meisterwerke verwendet worden. Insofern ein sehr erfolgreiches Album. Oldfield hat hier viel neues probiert und statt der Schlichtheit von Tubular Bells hier mit Chor, Orchester- und Synthesizerunterstützung gearbeitet. Kopfhörer auf und wegräumen. Die alten Sachen sind einfach grandios.
