Beschreibung:Made in Dakar Import Orchestra Baobab The legendary Senegalese band's first album in six years, consisting in part of re-recordings of the group's earlier songs, continues it's impressive record of seamlessly fusing the traditional and the modern. Each song here- with vocals performed in Wolof, Portuguese Creole, French, and Malinke- is equally rich in history, testament to one of the few positive outcomes of European occupation as they deftly incorporate soul and salsa, rumba and jazz, reggae and country, an exercise in cross-pollination made all the more impressive by the near invisibility of the threads connecting it all. That's ultimately what makes Orchestra Baobab such a joy: It's dance music, pure and simple, made for others to have a good time, easily appreciated on the basis of it's musicianship alone (Attisso is particularly inspired throughout) but becoming more impressive the deeper you dig into what's actually being done., Runningtime: 00:00:00, Alto Saxophone: Thierno Koite, Arranged By: Barthélemy Attisso, Artwork: Julian House, Bass: Charlie Ndiaye, Congas, Drums: Mountaga Koite, Drums [Sabar]: Thio Mbaye, Engineer [Assistant]: N'Diaga N'Dour, Engineer [Assistant], Mixed By: Sonny (9), Lead Guitar, Leader [Chef D'orchestre]: Barthélemy Attisso, Liner Notes [Sleevenotes]: Nick Karnofsky, Mastered By: Tom Leader, Photography By: Christien Jaspars, Photography By: Miranda Hutton, Photography By: Youri Lenquette, Producer: Nick Gold, Recorded By, Mixed By, Mastered By: Jerry Boys, Rhythm Guitar: Ben Geloum, Talking Drum [Tama]: Assane Thiam, Tenor Saxophone: Issa Cissoko, Trombone: Jesús "Aguaje" Ramos, Trumpet: Ibou Konate, Vocals: Assane Mboup, Vocals: Medoune Diallo, Vocals, Congas: Ndiouga Dieng, Vocals, Maracas, Claves: Rudy Gomis, Vocals, Timbales, Drums: Balla Sidibe, Adapted By: Assane Mboup, Written-By: Laye M'Boup, Adapted By: Assane Mboup, Vocals, Adapted By: Youssou N'dour, Written-By: Laye M'Boup, Rhythm Guitar: Baba Nabe, Tenor Saxophone: Sanou Diouf, Written-By: Bembeya Jazz National, Written-By: Rudy Gomis, Adapted By: Balla Sidibe, Written-By: Medoune Diallo, Written-By: Balla Sidibe, Adapted By: Assane Mboup, Written-By: Thione Seck, Written-By: Ndiouga Dieng, Written-By, Alto Saxophone: Issa Cissoko, Written-By: Barthélemy Attisso, Written-By: Ndiouga Dieng, Written-By: Rudy Gomis, Labelcode WCCT7827.2 (WCD 078), Phonographic Copyright (p) World Circuit Ltd., Copyright (c) World Circuit Ltd., Recorded At Studio Xippi, Mixed At Livingston Studios, Pressed By Sonopress Arvato
