"Gothic" ist das bahnbrechende zweite Studioalbum der britischen Band Paradise Lost und erschien 1991 im CD-Format beim Label Peaceville Records. Dieses Werk gilt als Meilenstein des Gothic-Metal-Genres und verbindet schwere Doom-Riffs mit atmosphärischen Keyboards sowie eindringlichem Gesang zu einer düsteren und zugleich melodischen Klanglandschaft. Songs wie ?Gothic?, ?Shattered? oder ?Eternal? sind heute Klassiker für Fans harter Musikstile. Paradise Lost wurde 1988 im englischen Halifax gegründet und zählt zu den Pionieren des Death-Doom- sowie Gothic-Metal-Bereichs; ihre Alben wie ?Draconian Times? oder ?Icon? genießen weltweit Kultstatus und beeinflussten zahlreiche Bands nachfolgender Generationen maßgeblich. As the title "Gothic" refers this is pure gothic metal, not some cheesy "goth metal with female vox and synth" but pure doom and despair, midtempo metal. Masterpiece.
