A native of Prague, Jean-Baptiste Krumpholtz acquired a passion for the harp at a young age and, after the encouragement of Haydn, became one of the most renowned harpists in Paris. His innovations in harp design enhanced it's sound, and his compositions were highly appreciated by his contemporaries and for a long time after his tragic death.
