Steve Wynn's (Dream Sydicate) new album! New band formed by Steve Wynn, Paco Loco (one of the icons of Spanish indie music in the '90s, musician and producer of Australian Blonde, Nacho Vegas, Cosmic Rough Riders and Josh Rouse, among many others) and Linda Pitmon (drummer of Golden Smog and of Wynn's backing band the Miracle 3). Mixed by John Agnello (Sonic Youth, Dinosaur Jr.., the Kills), each song in the album works in an individual way. From one of them, California says hello with narcotic fuzz face, in another one it's New York's mirror ball and disco sound, before we get assaulted by an almost sweet soul music cover of Three Dog Night's 'Never Been to Spain'. Smack Dab is a driving and emphatic album, one that connects with the spirit of comradeship that was unique of the Los Angeles scene in the early '80s.
