The Fall war eine englische Post-Punk-Band, die 1976 in Prestwich, Greater Manchester, gegründet wurde. Es gab viele Besetzungswechsel, wobei der Sänger und Gründer Mark E. Smith das einzige konstante Mitglied war.
Ein Journalist beschrieb sie einmal als "eine Art nordenglischen magischen Realismus, der industriellen Dreck mit dem unirdischen und unheimlichen mischte", vorgetragen durch eine "eintönige Darbietung, die irgendwo zwischen Amphetamin-gespickten Tiraden und alkoholgeschwängertem Seemannsgarn liegt".
Es war die Lieblingsband des legendären BBC-Diskjockeys John Peel.
"The Light User Syndrome" ist das 18. Album von The Fall. Die knackige Live-Kante der Aufnahme ist sehr gut gelungen, und es ist eines ihrer abstrusesten und knallhärtesten Alben der 90er Jahre.
Es enthält die beliebten Titel "Spinetrap",
"Oleano", "Hostile" und "He Pep!".
AuÃ?erdem nahmen sie eine Coverversion von Johnny Paychecks "Stay Away (Old White Train)" auf.

Reissued with two bonus tracks taken from The Chiselers single.
"Last Chance To Turn" is a cover of a song performed by Gene Pitney, although the original title is "Last Exit To Brooklyn".
