Description:1924-1933 by Lud Gluskin, released 22 March 2005. This version of 1924-1933 comes as a 1xCD. - PAUL GASON AND HIS ORCHESTRA, THE PLAYBOYS..
(2-CD set) This is the first in a series of CDs documenting what has colloquially become known in collecting circles as "EuroJazz." Lud Gluskin was one of the most successful American jazz musicians to cross the Atlantic in the 1920s to work in Europe. These two CDs offer a selection of recordings representative of Gluskin's activities in Europe over a 10-year period. The transfers are in chronological order as far as the recording dates could be ascertained. Several recordings on this compilation have never been reissued before and some of the records were until recently unknown. (Personnel: Eddie Ritten, Emile Christian, Gene Prendergast, Georges Charron, Spencer Clark, Howard Kennedy, Paulie Freed, Ben Pickering, Merrow Bodge, Ted Goebel, George Hirst and many others).
A compilation of rare European recordings by Gluskin's band, featuring several American jazz musicians including Gene Prendergast, Spencer Clark and Paulie Freed. Gluskin specialist Andreas Schmauder has selected 48 of the band's best sides from among the over 400 recordings made by the band in Vienna, Paris and Berlin, and the booklet contains rare photographs and extensive notes by Andreas.
