This work was accompanied by both musical and commercial success (more than 2 million copies of the disc were sold). The influence of Tool on the American alternative scene can hardly be overestimated - art-core, nu-metal, a heavy alternative, have absorbed a lot of the band’s music. Of course, the debut album is far from the musical perfection of the following works, especially “Aenima”, but even now “Undertow” is heard very freshly and not old-fashioned, being a rare example of ageless music.
