"Light Of Day, Day Of Darkness (Digipak)" is a landmark progressive metal album by the Norwegian band Green Carnation, released in CD format by Prophecy Productions. This ambitious record consists of a single epic track spanning over 60 minutes, showcasing the band's mastery in blending atmospheric soundscapes with heavy riffs and melodic passages. Green Carnation, formed in 1990 by guitarist Tchort (ex-Emperor), has become renowned for their innovative approach to metal music, seamlessly integrating elements from doom, gothic, and progressive genres. Their previous works like "Journey to the End of the Night" have received critical acclaim for pushing genre boundaries. The label behind this release, Prophecy Productions, is known for supporting avant-garde and high-quality artists within dark music scenes since its founding in Germany in 1996.
Darker than Dark Side of the Moon, and at a record breaking 60 minutes is the longest single prog epic. Moody, atmospheric, melancholy, it is sort of like Anathema on downers, and you can't go wrong with that.

The enire album a song? How's that possible and is it boring? Well, the answers are "kind of", "because they're geniuses" and "absolutely no". This is not your typical prog metal instrumental wankery. It's hauntingly epic and atmospheric, like a mix between Pink Floyd and viking era Bathory. Highly recommended.
