In general, buying this album and putting it in the player for me the most important thing was to get rid of the high expectations that anyway give rise to the name of the album. It is clear that it was unlikely that the group should wait for the next epochal album, stuffed with sultry hits, such as Keeper 1 and 2, Master of the rings and Time of the Oath. In addition, it seems to me that it is necessary to take into account that the guys are already forty years old, and if the team hasn’t collapsed over the twenty-year career and continues to write music, then as a minimum it deserves the deepest respect. As for the album itself, the guys did not disappoint. The album is much stronger and more interesting than the previous three opuses and is divided, as it were, into two parts - the first disc is more traditional, the second is more experimental. But, despite this, the entire material is saturated with a classic, proprietary Halloween spirit, from guitar parts to melody. I am very pleased that there are instrumental inserts non-standard for this style in songs and the presence of progressive elements, without this, the record would have looked like a standard self-specific power album. It is pointless to compare The Legacy with Keeper 1 and 2, any music should be listened to in due time, and the prefix “legacy” to the new album is very useful. In general, against the background of a rather straightforward Gamma Ray album, there’s a balm for the soul. Well done!
