| Description: | Dando Shaftâ??s self-titled sophomore set continued to build on the reputation established by their excellent debut, and now the arrival of female singer Polly Bolton added another textural dimension, as heard most clearly on the soaring â??Riverboat,â?? the absence of drums throughout allowing us to fully appreciate the playersâ?? excellent musicianship, with Martin Jenkinsâ?? masterful mandolin, flute and fiddle drawing the sound to higher realms. As it was issued on RCAâ??s prog sub-label Neon, which folded soon after its release, the LP is as rare as it is excellent another must-have for fans of progressive folk and psychedelic folk rock. - Dando Shaft was up there with Pentangle and Fairport Convention for fans of UK folk-rock. They grew even more compelling with this second album, as singer Polly Bolton joined the group for stirring songs like Waves upon the Ether; Railway; Till the Morning Comes, and more. Here's the complete 1971 LP plus four unissued tracks! |
