Jon and Criss Oliva in action - this was a first album with a new bass player Johnny Lee Middleton - great album - Highly recommend

If I do not throw off a particularly good sound, I liked Crying for Lov (with a magnificent violin intro and generally a prog-rock arrangement) and a cover on Badfinger (although it sounds, obviously getting out of all the heavy sounding of the album, but what are the guitar parts on it !).
Very noticeably sounds The Edge of Midnight with a harpsichord-organ introduction, a memorable part of the keyboard. And if you take into account the following Hyde, then on the album you can safely create a label "prog-metal".

I really don't have much else to say about this album. The music isn't bad for the most part, it's just uninspired. It simply does not have the power and hard edge that the previous albums did, despite of some guitar addiction by C. Oliva. It does not flow as the truly great Savatage albums do. In the end this record would prove to be a bit of a lost cause for Savatage, as it tended to turn original fans away and was mostly panned by critics. It sounds incredible to heard that only the year after they went back on the right way with the masterpiece "Hall Of The Mountain King".
