= The Motown Anthology 1963-1968 = |
 | Description: | You have to feel for those artists that didnâ??t get the breaks at Motown. Most that didnâ??t were every bit as good as those that did. Their lack of success was the result of being some way down a pecking order dominated by acts such as the Temptations, Four Tops and Supremes. Even the second wave of higher profile acts had to battle to be heard above the big noise made by the hits of those groups. With hindsight, the Monitors hardly stood a chance - = THE MOTOWN ANTHOLOGY 1963-1968 =Digitally remastered collection from the under-appreciated Soul/R&B quartet. Although they consistently failed to achieve the promotion and success that was afforded to some of their more famed label mates, The Monitors were among the finest groups to record for Berry Gordy's company during it's golden era. Led by the soulful tenor of future Temptations member Richard Street, the three-boy, one-girl quartet was never among Motown's big chart hitters, but the comparatively few recordings The Monitors made in almost seven years with the company were and remain of the highest quality - and each of their five released singles deserved considerably more chart action than they got. Kent Soul."Say You! Motown Anthology 1963-1968" is a comprehensive CD collection by The Monitors, released by Ace Records. This anthology brings together the finest tracks recorded by The Monitors during their tenure at Motown between 1963 and 1968, showcasing their soulful harmonies and infectious rhythms that defined the golden era of Detroit soul. Featuring classics like "Say You," "Greetings (This Is Uncle Sam)," and several rare gems, this release offers both longtime fans and newcomers an essential insight into one of Motown's most underrated vocal groups. The Monitors were known for their smooth blend of voices led by Richard Street?who later joined The Temptations?and left a lasting impression with their heartfelt performances despite limited chart success.
Ace Records is renowned for its dedication to preserving musical heritage through high-quality reissues and anthologies across genres such as soul, R&B, blues, rock 'n' roll, and more.
