2CELLOS wurden 2011 berühmt, als ihre Version von Michael Jacksons "Smooth Criminal" die Welt im Sturm eroberte. Das YouTube-Video wurde zu einer massiven viralen Sensation und führte zu einem Plattenvertrag mit Sony Masterworks und einer Einladung, Sir Elton John auf seiner weltweiten Tournee zu begleiten. Neben vielen ausverkauften Solo-Tourneen (USA, Japan, Europa) und Kollaborationen mit den Red Hot Chili Peppers, Queens of the Stone Age und George Michael trat das Duo auch in gro�en TV-Shows auf. Zusammen mit dem chinesischen Klassik-Superstar und Pianisten Lang Lang traten sie bei der CCTV Neujahrsgala vor mehr als 1 Milliarde Zuschauern auf.
