Modern Life Is Rubbish is regarded as one of the defining releases of the Britpop scene, and its chart-topping follow-ups—Parklife and The Great Escape—saw Blur emerge as one of Britain's leading pop acts.
|  | Azmi H. - 10/12/2021  Modern Life is Rubbish is for me, the finest Blur album. With this album they matured from the 'Madchester' to a credible identity of their own. From For Tomorrow to The Universal, the album gives an insight into their Stadium and Festival filling future.
|  | ET B. - 20/07/2020  Overall I couldn't but help feel a bit underwhelmed by Modern Life Is Rubbish. While there are some good tracks ("For Tomorrow", "Colin Zeal", "Chemical World", for example), they are interspersed with often quite dull ones, especially when compared with their album from the following year ("Parklife"). Give it a listen if you like Blur, otherwise go and listen to Parklife if you haven't already.
