Newly Unearthed Rehearsal Tape From 1966 |
 |
| Description: | 1966 is an album by Karen Dalton, released in 2012. The album is a folk CD. - NEWLY UNEARTHED REHEARSAL TAPE FROM 1966Archive collection of previously unreleased impromptu recordings from the underground Folk legend. Karen Dalton was a remote, elusive creature. A hybrid of tough and tender with an unearthly voice that seemed to embody a time long past. As is often the case with such fragile beings, she instinctively understood that the only way to survive the harshness of the world around her, was to keep herself hidden. So it comes as no great surprise that she rarely sang in public or ventured into the unnatural setting of a recording studio. Only twice, for 1969's It's So Hard to Tell Who's Going to Love You the Best and then again for 1971's in My Own Time, was she coaxed from her habitat into the studio. Other times she made music in casual settings, sitting around a kitchen table or wood burning stove with her friends, singing and playing until daybreak.Recorded in 1966. Digipack with 16-page booklet of photos and liner notes."1966" is a remarkable CD release by the legendary American folk and blues singer Karen Dalton, issued by Delmore Recordings / Cargo. This album features previously unreleased live recordings from 1966, capturing Dalton's hauntingly emotive voice and unique interpretations of traditional songs and contemporary covers. Known for her deeply soulful delivery and distinctive phrasing, Karen Dalton was an influential figure in the Greenwich Village folk scene alongside Bob Dylan and Fred Neil. Despite releasing only two studio albums during her lifetime??It?s So Hard to Tell Who?s Going to Love You the Best? (1969) and ?In My Own Time? (1971)?Dalton has posthumously gained recognition as one of the most compelling voices in American music history. Delmore Recordings is renowned for its dedication to unearthing rare archival material from iconic artists, ensuring that lost gems like "1966" reach new audiences with exceptional sound quality. |
