Description:Heritage by Opeth, released 16 September 2011, includes the following tracks: "I Feel The Dark", "Nepenthe", "Famine", "Folklore" and more. This version of Heritage comes as a 1xCD. -
The latest masterwork from the Stockholm, Sweden based virtuoso musicians is a mind-boggling dense maze of tempo shifts, off-time signatures, percussive experimentation and warped rhythms. It is all expertly melded together by a myriad range of emotional outpouring and breezy melodic optimism which soars above the songs like a woodland spirit surveying it's forest. There are multiple hints of darkness but HERITAGE moves the band forward into broader dimensions.

"Heritage" is a studio album by the Swedish progressive metal band Opeth, released in 2011 on CD format by Roadrunner Records. This record marks a significant stylistic shift for Opeth, moving away from their death metal roots towards a more progressive rock and jazz-influenced sound. The album features intricate compositions, vintage instrumentation, and thought-provoking lyrics that explore themes of legacy and transformation. Opeth, formed in 1990 by Mikael Åkerfeldt, are renowned for their genre-defying approach to music and have received critical acclaim for albums such as "Blackwater Park," "Ghost Reveries," and "Watershed." Their innovative blend of heavy metal with progressive elements has earned them a dedicated global fanbase. Roadrunner Records is an influential label known for supporting groundbreaking artists in rock and metal genres; they have played a pivotal role in launching the careers of bands like Slipknot, Nickelback, and Dream Theater.

Opeth's art rock album transformed like a bizarre album jacket

This is the album where definitively the prog sound was fully assumed by Opeth. The Swedish band reached higher musical levels with Heritage.

Great album, one of the best from Opeth! The "progessive era" starts here.

Last Opeth album I bought and appreciated; a step further on the "side-path" they started with Damnation and before becoming completely a cold 70s prog meal. It's an intriguing omage to 70s music universe with still a good taste for inspired themes and fascinating atmospheres. Would have been great if standalone experiment and not the first step a new career of a new band with old dead name.
