This version of American Journey: Winter Olympics 2002 comes as a 1xCD. - .. WINTER OLYMPICS 2002Legendary American composer [a273394] conducted "Call Of The Champions" -- the official theme of the 2002 Olympic Winter Games -- during the opening ceremonies from Salt Lake City, joined by the [a583138] and the [a924191]. This new piece, composed by Williams especially for these Olympic Winter Games, is the opening track on his new album American Journey (SK 89364). The album title comes from Williams' six-movement composition of the same name, which was composed for the Millennium celebrations in Washington, D.C., and has never before been available on disc
"This is an attempt to portray the 20th century thematically", says Williams -- "we wanted people to take heed but take heart at the same time, and have this be an uplifting experience." American Journey is presented here for the first time as a complete concert work. The CD features over a dozen original tracks by Williams, plus an added bonus -- "Summon The Heroes", the anthem written for the '96 Olympic Summer Games in Atlanta.
Tracks 2-12, 14 recorded December 9-10, 1999 and June 19 & 20, 2000 at Sony Pictures Studios, Culver City, CA.
Tracks 1 & 13 recorded November 27, 2001 at Maurice Abravanel Hall, Salt Lake City, Utah.
