Opus Eponymous fits practically perfect within the early days of metal, back when Black Sabbath had just hit the scene and were giving way to the rise of this sinister new genre of music. If you were to put Black Sabbath, Blue Oyster Colt, and Mercyful Fate in a blender, you pretty much get Ghost.

This album is a kind of collective image of heavy metal with its melody, typical guitar solos and general rhythm, a tradum with its painful and pathos atmosphere of doom and hopelessness and - most important and unexpected - with elements of power pop. Yes, the classic power pop in the spirit of Cheap Trick, the Kinks, Devo and the Cars. It is the "pop" choruses in the spirit of this style that give the Ghost music such chitos and memorability. Most often, musicians play according to the scheme "gloomy verse - pop chorus - melodic solo."
In conclusion, it’s probably worth highlighting some songs, which is not easy to do, because the album contains quite integral material, often the songs quietly pass into each other. But still it’s worth mentioning two of the things I liked the most - the Conan Clavi Con Dio and the Elizabeth satan-warship, released in the form of a preliminary single. This album made a rather strong impression on me, and now, probably, I have no choice but to drive it around and wait for the next work of the Swedes.

Ghost's first album shows, eight years later, a completely distinct band from the (sadly) now pop (rock?) of the Prequelle album. Opus Eponymous was a great album and the best of the band. Retro occult rock with a haunting atmosphere played by good musicians make this album excellent. Good times, Ghost... (R.I.P.)

First LP of ghost B.C. with a swedish production and the original core line up : tobias forge and M Persner.
Personnally the song Elisabeth was a big surprise and now i am a fan of the group.
The first lp is a cross between doom 70 and classic metal and the music-producer is Lee Dorian ( Cathedral).
Warning this album is a drug for your ears if you like the ghost bc style .
