For this new release, Meta4 gives the String Quartets of Shostakovich their attention. The young Finnish string quartet has recently become one of the world's top quartets. Founded in 2001, the four musicians won the Shostakovich Competition in 2004 in Moscow and won the Haydn Competition in 2007 in Vienna. Meta4's repertoire includes works from Haydn to the present day, with many works especially written for them. Their first CD received wide critical acclaim and several coveted awards including the Prize of the German Record Critics' Award and the 2010 Echo Klassik Award.
