Banjo player Bela Fleck and pianist Marcus Roberts are among the most respected and accomplished musicians of our time. Wynton Marsalis has called Roberts "the genius of the modern piano," while Bela Fleck has taken the banjo to musical places that no one before him had imagined. Along with bassist Rodney Jordan and drummer Jason Marsalis, they traverse a musical landscape that is cinematic in scope, along the way embracing the blues, tango rhythms and folk melodies. At times playful and always swinging, ACROSS THE IMAGINARY DIVIDE revels in the empathy of these four musicians a delight to behold.
Recorded in Tallahassee, Florida at Studiolothian in early December 2011. Mixed in Nashville, Tennessee at Sanctuary in February of 2012 and mastered in Nashville. Packaged in a digipak. Includes 8-page booklet of liner notes and photos. Printed in the U.S.A.
