 | Description: | The first official Rolling Stonesâ?? rarities collection originally released in June 1975 to try and outwit the bootleggers. The release combines some legendary out-takes and rarities as well as focusing on the wealth of demos that Jagger & Richards composed for other artists (produced by Andrew Loog Oldham or Jimmy Miller).
Some of these tracks were subsequently re-recorded by the Stones themselves, as these versions largely featured session musicians like Big Jim Sullivan on guitar, Clem Cattini on drums, and Jimmy Page on guitar.
The collection starts with an orchestrated version of â??Out of Timeâ?, featuring Jagger singing over the same backing track used for Chris Farloweâ??s 1966 version that would later give Chris Farlowe a U.K. number one hit. â??Out of Timeâ? was released by The Rolling Stones as a single in 1975, and most recently was featured in Quentin Tarantinoâ??s Once Upon a Time In Hollywood.
Metamorphosis features a terrific version of â??Memo From Turner,â? a 1964 Chess studio out-take â??Donâ??t Lie to Meâ? is a stellar Chuck Berry cover, while â??Familyâ?, the rocking â??Jiving Sister Fannyâ?, Bill Wymanâ??s â??Downtown Suzieâ? and a version of Stevie Wonderâ??s â??I Donâ??t Know Whyâ? are out-takes from two of the Stonesâ?? finest-ever albums, Beggars Banquet and Let It Bleed.
Also included â?? â??Each and Every Day of the Yearâ? (covered by Bobby Jameson), â??Iâ??d Much Rather Be With the Boysâ? (by obscure British beat group The Toggery Five), â??Some Things Just Stick in Your Mindâ? (Vashti Bunyan), â??(Walkinâ?? Through The) Sleepy Cityâ? (the Mighty Avengers), and â??Weâ??re Wastinâ?? Timeâ? (Jimmy Tarbuck). - RE-ISSUE ON HQ VINYL/ORIG. ARTWORK & SLEEVELimited Edition vinyl LP repressing of this Rolling Stones compilation album, originally released in 1975.
