Descripción:Frankreich im Ersten Weltkrieg. Nach einer Notlandung
rettet die 17-jährige Comtesse Centaine de Thiry den
Kampfflieger Michael Courtney aus einem brennenden
Flugzeugwrack. Beide verbindet bald eine innige Liebe und
Centaine erwartet ein Kind. Noch bevor Michael von dem
Glück erfahren kann, kommt er durch einen tragischen
Unglücksfall ums Leben. Schwanger flieht Centaine mit
ihrer Hofdame Anna Stok nach Südafrika, der Heimat des
Geliebten und dem Land ihrer Träume.

Doch das Schiff, auf dem sie reisen, wird torpediert und
Centaine kann sich zusammen mit dem Mitreisenden Ernie in
letzter Sekunde auf ein treibendes Stück Holz retten.
Komplett auf sich allein gestellt, beginnt auf hoher See
ein Kampf ums nackte Überleben. Für Centaine und das Kind
besteht kaum mehr Hoffnung die afrikanische Küste lebend zu
erreichen...
