This version of Happy Times In New Orlean comes as a 1xCD. - THE EARLY SESSIONS 1958-1960A supremely talented songwriter, producer, piano player, singer, and arranger, this legendary mover and shaker is synonymous with a funky brand of New Orleans-based rhythm and blues. He worked with a great assortment of artists, including Lee Dorsey, the Meters, Dr. John, the Band, Patti LaBelle, and Elvis Costello, among many others. Although best known as a behind the scenes operator, Allen Toussaint has also released a handful of solo albums over the years. This quintessential collection contains Toussaint's seminal recordings, featuring a variety of the great R&B sides he made for different labels such as RCA, Minit and Seville. This is the material upon which Toussaint's reputation was built. These sensational recordings also feature a virtual who's who of fabulous musicians from the Crescent City scene, including Alvin "Red" Taylor, Justin Adams, Roy Montrell, Frank Fields, and Charles "Hungry" Williams, among others.
