Description: | Blues: Mountain Harmonica 1938-1953 is an album by Sonny Terry, released in 2005. The album is a blues CD. - .. HARMONICA 1938-1953(2-CD set) The virtuosic, exhuberant and extroverted entertainer and harmonica player Sonny Terry principally represented the perpetuation of the old Appalachian Mountain style, which went back to the first period of Black music, before the instrument adopted a quite different orchestral dimension in the Memphis jug bands. Sonny Terry was very popular in the folk circles in the '50s and his influence on most Yankee and European harpists was enormous. However, we must not overlook his vast quantity of recordings from 1938-53, interpreting blues, rhythm & blues, folk and rock 'n roll - this CD presents all the various facets of this talented artist. |
