Descripción:This new release is a bouquet of traditional hymns taken from 18th and 19th century hymnals. These beloved works have been passed down from generation to generation, and remain some of the most sung hymns in churches across the globe. The Mellstock Band & Choir perform music from the Hardy family and Puddletown Church manuscripts using authentic instruments as they would have been performed by a village band in Hardy's Wessex. Maddy Prior and The Carnival Band were formed in 1984 for a BBC Radio 2 broadcast of Christmas carols. The broadcast became an album, which was enthusiastically received by the public. Each member of the ensemble enjoys their own career, but the group is always happy to come together for a project like this, with opportunities to combine styles and talents., Runningtime: 00:00:00, Double Bass: Andrew Davis (3), Recorded By, Producer: David Wilkins, Recorded By, Producer: Gef Lucena, Vocals: Maddy Prior, Vocals, Bagpipes [Flemish], Bassoon [C. 1815], Bassoon [Curtal], Clarinet [In C], Oboe [Shawm], Recorder, Arranged By: Andrew Watts (2), Vocals, Banjo, Guitar, Guitar [Baroque, Gittern], Lute, Lute [Cittern], Mandolin, Mandolin [Mandocello]: Bill Badley, Vocals, Bells [Cowbell, Small], Cymbal [Antique], Drums [Basel Trommel, Small And Medium Tabor], Glockenspiel, Percussion [Wood Blocks], Tambourine [Tambourin Provencal], Triangle: Charles Fullbrook, Vocals, Recorder, Violin: Giles Lewin, Written-By: Traditional, Written-By: Traditional, Written-By: Traditional, Lyrics By: Edmund Sears, Music By: Traditional, Written-By: Traditional, Written-By: Traditional, Lyrics By: George Ratcliffe Woodward, Music By: Traditional, Lyrics By: Sabine Baring-Gould, Music By: Traditional, Arranged By: Giles Lewin, Lyrics By: James Montgomery (3), Music By: Traditional, Written-By: Traditional, Written-By: Traditional, Written-By: Traditional, Written-By: Traditional, Written-By: Traditional, Written-By: Traditional, Written-By: Traditional, Labelcode SAD366.2 (CD-SDL 366)
