"GAG" is the fourth and final studio album by Fad Gadget, released in 1984 on CD format by Mute Records. This influential record showcases Fad Gadget's unique blend of electronic music, post-punk energy, and darkly satirical lyrics. The album features standout tracks such as "Collapsing New People," which became one of his most recognized songs and highlights his collaboration with Einstürzende Neubauten. "GAG" stands out for its innovative use of industrial sounds combined with melodic synths, reflecting both the era's experimental spirit and Frank Tovey?s (Fad Gadget) sharp social commentary. As a pioneering figure in electronic music, Fad Gadget helped shape the soundscape of the early '80s alternative scene; his previous works like "Fireside Favourites" and "Under the Flag" are considered classics within their genre. Mute Records, founded in 1978 by Daniel Miller in London, has been instrumental in promoting groundbreaking artists across genres such as electronic, new wave, and alternative rock. With an impressive roster including Depeche Mode, Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, Erasure, Goldfrapp or Yazoo among others?Mute is renowned for supporting innovation and artistic freedom throughout its history.
