This wild band is the Italian answer to the New York downtown scene. Led by the saxophonist Carlo Actis Dato, Actis Band combines avant garde jazz solos and funky, upbeat rock while covering a vast stylistic ground. Massimo Rossi (alto, soprano saxes), Antonio Fontana (guitar), Federico Marchesano (bass), Dario Bruno (drums) and Carlo Actis Dato (tenor and baristone saxes, bass clarinet) manage to create a surprisingly tight patchwork of contrasting musical traditions.
