Description:This recording is a celebration of some of the work of the late, lamented and wonderful Lal Waterson. I worked on two of Lal's albums with Oliver Knight, Lal's son & collaborator - one before she sadly died, and one after - but I have been a long-term fan since adolescence. Lal had the ability to look at the the world's more mundane things and turn them into something special - a true poet who made me wish I could see the world through her eyes. I have long wanted to do an album of her songs and finally it is done. Lal was a member of No Masters Co-operative and it seemed appropriate to collaborate with other co-operative members to make this recording. That resulted in Neil Ferguson and Jude Abbott (Chumbawamba), Fi Fraser (Old Swan Band), and Jim Boyes (Coope, Boyes & Simpson) volunteering themselves; then to complete the band I asked Harry Hamer (Sex Patels) and Mary Macmaster (The Poozies) to join, creating a group with multiple voices, guitars, harp, percussion, bass and brass.
