Eugene S. - 2025年 01月 16日 The fourth studio album by German heavy metal band U.D.O. "Timebomb" is tough (even brutal), and also faster than U.D.O.'s previous releases. I recommend.
| | Yuriy P. - 2019年 02月 17日 In 1991, the U.D.O. were stronger than ever. Yes, their music gets on their nerves (in any case, who doesn't like heavy music), Udo's vocals can seem disgusting, especially if the listener is used to melodic operatic singing (like Freddie Mercury or Tarja Turunen). However, one cannot deny the group the skill and ability to write different music from other artists. And it's silly to wait from U.D.O. heavy metal in the spirit of Accept, and the set of musicians is different (not counting the vocalist). In general, the beginning of the 90s was rather unfavorable for many heavy groups, especially when grunge began to dominate. U.D.O. stayed true to their principles, releasing two first-class albums - "Faceless World" and "Timebomb", at the last of which they decided to experiment with speed metal. "Timebomb" was the last album on which virtuoso guitar player Mathias Diet played (later he will take part in the recording of only one song in 1998 for the album "No Limits"). The band will not be in the ranks of such a technical guitar player for a long time. Deafy, wife of Accept guitarist Wolf Hoffmann, who previously worked on lyrics in the former Dirkschneider band of the times of the albums "Balls To the Wall" and "Metal Heart", took part in the study of the lyrics on this album. "Timebomb" turned out to be more brutal compared to the early and future U.D.O. albums. Energy surpasses here. It was always incomprehensible to me why the first album "Animal House" was so much praised for, and why they scold this one. The music here turned out more melodic and complex. The group did a great job and didn’t do a self-repetition regarding the style (in any case, then). By the way, I especially want to draw attention to the play of guitarist Dith, who recorded very beautiful melodic solos.
