PAVOL M. - 09/Oct/2014 5 of 5 Stars!
The Raven That Refused To Sing is third solo album form Steven Wilson. It is his best album I mean. Music is original as usually. Hard to say - just listen and try compare with another progressive you know. Wilson is only one, Wilson is numbee one in recent progressive rock. I recommend to all fans of his later albums, Porcupine Tree, Riverside (Poland), ...

a review of this album after the release of the masterpiece "hands.cannot.erase" it's not easy; it's a matter of inspiration, almost. Hands cannot erase is an inspired work, result of a clear, intense vision under musical and narrative aspects, both developed in a deep way. The Rave..is inspired too but after more than one year I feel it colder even if not unable to leave you lost in your emotions (it's Always a Steven Wilson album at last). This is perhaps the more progressive album rleleased by Wilson, the only one where I feel the style covering the songs more than melody and inspiration. This does not mean we have an album without soul, a song like "Drive home" is right here to state this to our ears and also a song like "Holy drinker" has its emotionel gem hidden into its structures. Are you approaching first time to Steven Wilson solist project? well, start with Hands Cannot Erase or Insurgentes. If you're like me a "veteran" of all Wilson's projects (but I exclude the one with Akerfeldt...) give a chance to this album too because it is Always able to add another piece to the mosaic of Steven's music, the one you're collecting into your soul since you met his voice and the few talented artists around him.
