It is the first album by Jarrett's European Quartet featuring Jan Garbarek, Palle Danielsson and Jon Christensen. Jarrett started his career with Art Blakey, moving on to play with Charles Lloyd and Miles Davis. Since the early 1970s he has enjoyed a great deal of success as a group leader and a solo performer in jazz, jazz fusion, and classical music. His improvisations draw from the traditions of jazz and other genres, especially Western classical music, gospel, blues, and ethnic folk music.
"Belonging" is a landmark jazz album by pianist Keith Jarrett, released in 1974 on the renowned ECM Records label. This LP features Jarrett?s acclaimed European Quartet, including Jan Garbarek (saxophone), Palle Danielsson (bass), and Jon Christensen (drums). The record stands out for its lyrical melodies, dynamic interplay, and atmospheric soundscapes that blend elements of post-bop with Scandinavian influences. "Belonging" is celebrated as one of Jarrett's finest works outside his American quartet projects and showcases his ability to create deeply emotive music within an ensemble setting. Keith Jarrett himself is a legendary figure in jazz, known for groundbreaking solo improvisations like "The Köln Concert," as well as collaborations with Miles Davis and Charles Lloyd. ECM Records, founded by Manfred Eicher in 1969, has become synonymous with high-fidelity recordings and innovative jazz productions; it has launched the careers of countless influential artists while maintaining an unmistakable aesthetic focused on clarity and artistic integrity.

Gianni B. - 27/Jul/2024 4 of 5 Stars!
Product without any defect. Vinyl very flat and without noise. Sleeve is good but don’t expect an high class cover. Music very pleasant and the sound is warm and the instruments well separated. Too much sax and Not enough Jarrett for my taste.
