From the liner notes:
"Welcome to 1995 in the Dance Years series. For me personally, this was a year of great change. The success of the Kiss FM breakfast show had come to the attention of the Radio 1 bosses who were looking to revamp the station and I was invited to go and join them.
In any normal scenario, this might have seemed like a no brainer. However, it was quite a dilemma for me. Kiss FM was on fire in London and the show was on a roll. Whereas Radio 1 at the time was being vilified by the press for being out of touch and on a downward spiral. They were losing masses of listeners. I decided with a heavy heart after five successful years and being part of the process of getting a legal dance station on air in the UK that it was time for a new challenge.
The thought of going in and trying to help shake up Radio 1 was appealing if not a little daunting. Chris Evans joined the same day and within six months the station began a slow regeneration into becoming the no. 1 choice for young listeners. One of the first shows before I started hosting my new show was sitting in for Pete Tong on the Essential Selection where I played Faithless 'Salva Mea' for the first time!" | | No. of tracks: |
