Description:Der Gitarrist Marc Ribot half Tom Waits 1985 auf »Rain Dogs« bei der Verfeinerung neuer, schräger Americana, und seitdem ist er fĂĽr alle Arten von Roots-Musik-Abenteurern der Gitarrist schlechthin: Robert Plant, Alison Krauss, Elvis Costello oder John Mellencamp. Auf seinen eigenen Platten hat Ribot alles erkundet, vom bahnbrechenden Jazz von Albert Ayler bis zum kubanischen Sohn von Arsenio RodrĂ­guez. Auf »Silent Movies«, aufgenommen fĂĽr PI Recordings, das mittlerweile ĂĽberzeugendste Label im neuen Jazz, legt Ribot Sologitarre-Soundtracks fĂĽr tatsächliche und imaginäre Filme vor. Hauptsächlich frönt er der sehnsĂĽchtigen melodischen Sensibilität, die sich selbst in seinen lautesten Aufnahmen versteckt und die sein Spiel zunehmend bestimmt.
