Ireland's Kodaline has a great breakout CD with "In A Perfect World." The opening track "One Day" has a large sonic panorama that reflects in musical terms the great cover, "Waiting for a change to come, you know you're not the only one." "High Hopes" is another jewel with its slow build & piano at the center of the arrangement until the great guitar work. "All Comes Down" is another tune that grabs you by the collar with its emotional power, "I see in your soul & I know you're lying to me; I lose control; Oh, why didn't I know?" "Pray" is a track that greatly appeals to me, seeming to be about accepting loss with the knowledge that death does not stop us from continuing to love our departed loved ones, "And you slipped away from me without talking; The look in your eyes stronger than this."
