Alexander S. - 22.08.2019 Great album! Finland is definitely the No. 1 country in world music, especially with regard to everything powerful, epic and heroic. Turisas did not let us down without shaming their ideological fathers from Finntroll, Moonsorrow and Ensiferum.
As a result, we have a great epic black, very cool complemented by (sometimes) folk tunes and a violin. Nigard's vocals are, in principle, clean, but rather hoarse. There is also female vocals at Midnight Sunrise and a choir. The choir is something special. These are not drunken gouging Vikings at all, everything is much more beautiful and serious.
The lyrics, of course, do not shine with the heights of poetry, and are devoted to themes traditional for this kind of music - battles, campaigns and other militarism :) The exception is a beautiful philosophical text in The Land of Hope and Glory.
There are no passing topics, but there are two pearls - the one The Land ... and Rex Regi Rebellis. The first takes an interesting melody and a strong choral insert. The second is the most powerful action movie of the entire album. It is understandable, because the music used the melody of the Finnish military march of the 1930s!
All in all a great thing. In contrast to most comrades in style, this album is perceived by many more people, so it can be recommended to a wider audience than viking fans.
