Where No Life Dwells (Reissue)

I will immediately stipulate that I am reviewing a reissue of this album, that is, the album was remastered in 2001, but I think few people will be able to find the original edition now, although it was probably done at the proper level - it was produced by Waldemar Sorychta after all. The sound is simply ideal for this kind of music, so there can be no questions about the quality of the recording - everyone who has a decent stereo system can safely buy this release. The musical component, too, I must say, did not disappoint - after the acoustic intro "Where No Life Dwells" we are treated to 10 truly interesting, diverse and, I am not afraid of this word, epic tracks. The musicians' technique is at an unusually high level. Swedish death metal bands generally didn't abuse the use of blunt hammering or thrashing, and when I hear a reproach to such a release that it's a complete hack-and-slash, I get the feeling that the person simply didn't listen to the album or listened to it half-heartedly. Take the tracks "If They Had Eyes", "Where Life Ends", "Into the Glory Ride", or even "The Dark One" or "Before the Creation of Time" - if this is blunt hammering, then I'm Mary, fucking Poppins. The DigiPack edition is supplemented with seven bonus tracks, taken mainly from demos and compilations, and two videos for "Before the Creation of Time" and "The One Insane", and the 10-page booklet contains lyrics, early photos of the band, a few words about the creation of the album from Johnny, as well as the discography of the band. Simply an excellent edition of a great album. A classic of Swedish death metal.

For most fans the debut album of Unleashed considered their best effort and among the all time classic of death metal scene!
