1933, auf einem Passagierschiff, das von Mexiko nach Europa schippert: Passagiere aller gesellschaftlichen Klassen treffen sich an Bord der deutschen Crew, darunter auch ein Schiffsarzt, der sich in die mitreisende La Contessa verliebt.
