The self-titled debut album "Danzig" by the band Danzig, released in CD format by American Recordings, is a cornerstone of heavy metal and hard rock. Originally launched in 1988, this record features iconic tracks such as "Mother," which became an anthem for the genre and propelled the band to international fame. The album's dark, blues-influenced sound set it apart from its contemporaries and showcased Glenn Danzig?s distinctive vocals and songwriting prowess. Danzig, formed after Glenn?s tenure with Misfits and Samhain, quickly established themselves as pioneers of a darker brand of metal that influenced countless artists thereafter. American Recordings, known for their eclectic roster spanning genres from hip-hop to rock (including Johnny Cash and Slayer), played a crucial role in bringing innovative music like Danzig's to mainstream audiences.

Glenn Danzig puts his Jim Morrison-esque voice at service of great tunes footed in 70s hard rock and proto metal.
